Transfer design with version control.
Setting-out is a controlled translation from issued design information to marks or points on a live site — not simply reading coordinates from a drawing.

Issued design
Drawing status, revision, units and coordinate system must be unambiguous before fieldwork.
Site reference
Control points are checked for stability, consistency and suitability for the requested tolerance.
Set-out record
What was marked, when, from which revision and with what project reference is recorded.
Independent verification
Critical geometry may require a separate check rather than repeating the same calculation or setup.
Revisions & site instruction
Superseded information is removed from the active workflow and changes are formally communicated.
Measured condition
As-built scope identifies the elements, stage, tolerance and purpose of the verification.
